250r in wind

in

Hello guys. I've been reading about beginner bikes for a few months now and I plan to get one soon. I am pretty sure I will get a ninja 250r, but I have heard that they can have problems in gusty winds. Is this a big issue for any of you 250 users? I wouldn't want to constantly be worried about wind gusts when cruisin' the highways all the time. I have yet to take a course on riding, though, and I wanna do that before I start riding on my own....must prevent crashing!!!

I don't really see much of an alternative, style wise and price wise from the 250 other than a used 500. There are just a few things that worry me about the 250, like how it deals in the wind and if I will tire of it quickly and want more power. I'm 5'10" 165, so I don't think the 250 would be too small for me. Oh and what about mods? I'm guessing I could get some mods on a 250 to allow much better control at high speed in the wind.

edit: I have also heard about the sv650 being a great bike, but I am unsure of the cost.

An SV650S will run you about $4200+ depending on year/usage/region/etc.

Wind is wind. Gusting is a different story. A gust will move any bike on any highway no exceptions. However there is a huge difference between a 5mph gust and a 20mph gust. I wouldn't worry about it to much have faith in your riding skills and develop them.

Mods are really just more of a pleasure thing. People all the time say the ninja 500 tires are crap, but I have yet to have them cause me to low side and I push pretty hard.
