I haven’t worked selling motorcycles but I have been in the retail industry and worked with stocking things. Typically what happens is that you put in an order for so much product a week/month/quarter. The distribution center will fill your orders as long as there is stock. When there is a shortage on a product, the retailer doesn’t know what they are getting until the order arrives with the billing statement. Then there is a phone call asking why there wasn’t a full order. I think they try to fill the oldest orders first, but they may have to distribute equally across a geographical area.
all in all, I wouldn’t blame the retailer for product not coming in and they probably have no idea what is getting shipped until it is shipped.
