Yeah the ninja 650r is a pretty good beginner bike, about on par with the sv650 since both bikes sport a V-twin engine. The thing you want to avoid is an Inline-Four (I-4) engine over 500cc’s. They are a lot more twitchy and difficult to ride in my opinion. The 650 v-twin is no slouch though, and I would caution your brother to be careful if he is giong to get it. I usually tell new riders to stay away from them unless their ego’s can’t handle anything less than a 600 (or they have dirtbike experience).
