I’d submit that there’s actually only minor differences between their bikes, with the advantage going to the bicycle the tighter it gets (due to weight mainly).

Road bikes? Just watch Tour de France coverage for the answer — bicycles hands-down. Of course that’s comparing a BMW touring rig with pillion carrying a huge video camera, but hey, I’ll take it how I can get it.
