Ephrata PA Sunday Rally
40 degree this morning, an old friend showed up for the ride out to Ephrata, with his brand spankin' new S1000RR:
60+ miles only saw one cop and 4 other cars.

I got to sit on a special parts carbon fiber Diavel today, not quite my type of machine, but once fired up it rips quite nicely:

Good mix of machines there! Have to say that Diavel is probly a better looking sports type bike then I have seen. The one thing that always turns me off about them is all the fairing in the front and the skinny azz rear. Always leaves me thinking..... grasshopper...or wasp.... like your friends RR. That Diavel has a little bit more to it in the rear leaving it to look like a balanced ride. Though looks are always deceiving, it's just my preference for a bike to look balanced.

The Diavel is Ducati's first attempt at making a cruiser along the lines of the Harley V-Rod. As far as the fairing in the front and the skinny azz rear as you call them, I'm pretty sure there's a functional reason for them that engineers haven't yet been able to get around (if they ever will). Weight displacement, aerodynamics, etc...

Probly more for weight distribution being that the bikes have such power displacement to weight..... atleast in my logic it makes sense to put more weight forward to keep the front down aided by the aero-dynamics of fairing and rider. Aesthetically for me.... it just reminds me of bugs. The smaller tail....maybe a spoiler of types to catch the "curling" turbulence and get some down force on the rear tire?
V-Rod.... never have or ever will consider it a cruiser. Nor the Vmax. Muscle bikes is a category in of their own.
