7-0-7 Helmets

in

I recently broke a piece of my helmet, and in trying to find a part for it I found out some interesting information that I wanted to share.

My helmet is a Seven-Zero-Seven Vendetta 2 helmet, made exclusively for Cycle Gear. When I contacted the local Cycle Gear shop, I found out that the people that work there have no idea where these helmets come from. Not a huge surprise, but I was hoping that they would know something, since the website that is plastered on everything that comes with the helmet doesn't exist.

I looked in my helmet for a manufacturer's tag, and found that the helmet is made by J-Tech. J-Tech is a Korean company that has been making helmets for a few years, along with some other products. I found out that they now make a line of helmets under the brand XPEED. I looked at the XPEED website, and saw that the gear plate (the part I broke) was identical. Not only that, but the name stamped into the lens on my helmet is XPEED, even though they are sold as replacement Seven-Zero-Seven lenses at Cycle Gear. I haven't yet contacted them about the replacement gear plate yet to see how their service is, but a friend that has an XPEED helmet was successful in ordering parts last year, so I'm not foreseeing any issues.

Another interesting side-note, I read somewhere that J-Tech also private labels helmets for Icon.
