Got sucked into watching YouTube videos with UK motorcycle cops. Was mildly entertaining. Thought I would post them here

Vid one, typical Miami. They will kill you and not bat an eye.

Vid 3, he sums it up, way to much machine, far to little skill. Ego overriding a machine that outclasses the rider.

The last Vid . ."The mans bike was "crushed"? Seriously?
The dude hitting the bus . .ouch. (-;

In all of them . .are all the cops over there always so friggen polite? LoL Give those boys some guns and an attitude. (((-;

The tank is a riot. (-;

I'm thinking the cops were

I'm thinking the cops were polite as they knew they were on camera. Still, can't help but notice the difference between that and the Cops show here where they seem to go out of their way to rough the folks up as they arrest them, make it look good for tv. I guess that's what you get when you let a bunch of old jar heads join the Police

I thought you would have picked up on the fact they were stopping folks to have a chat about what they were wearing. That would have pissed me off. If I'm not breaking any law then don't friggen stop me for a chat. Having said that, I recently heard that it is now a requirement to wear protective gear, jacket/pants etc. Not sure what the exact requirements are or how they enforce them, but I'm not sure I like that being a law. As safety conscious as I am I think that is going a bit too far. Mind you, since we have a public health care system over there maybe it's for the best. You can spend a few hundred on pants or we can spend thousands grafting your skin back on. Hmmm, maybe I do support that idea.

The reason I got into watching these videos is I had just ordered a safety video by an ex UK Police instructor. I've watched some of it this morning and while the production standards are a bit cheesey (it's a one man effort) the advice is golden. But man, I had forgotten how bikers ride over there. Overtaking into the smallest gaps and squeezing back into traffic, and this is the instructor on the safety video!!! Definitely a different culture.

Drivers are better across the pond than they are here. It's much more difficult to get (and keep) a license than it is here. So while motorcycling is still dangerous, it's somewhat less so as drivers are more attentive and skillful, generally speaking.

That kind of predictability does make a difference. When I've driven in Europe, I feel safer, like there's less of a chance of the kind of idiotic unpredictability you get here in the states (e.g. "I missed my exit on the freeway, so I'll just stop on the shoulder and back up!")

Freedom & responsibility . .

Freedom & responsibility . . cant be separated. In the UK, the "responsibility" to fix the broken bones falls on the state, as such the sate makes the rules. (Assuming your "consequence" responsibility for you is a blank check for them to assume your decision making process as well.) It's why I am so against that kind of shit in the states . .cant be free and be safe, not if your stupid anyway. ((-; Part of "free" is the freedom to be a fool.

As for us Jar Heads being cops . .they didn't want me back in the 80's when I got out of the suck. Said I was to "violent natured". Just saying, it could be worse if they got more of us "jar heads". LoL

As for the last comment about better drivers on that side of the pond. Hmmm. I have never stepped foot in England, seen most of the rest of Europe however . . all we did was float and hit ports all over that side of the "pond". (-; Lots of roundabouts . .and I always felt those folks were f'en INSANE! LoL Of coarse that was just a tad over 30 years back . .maybe they have clamped down hard on driving too . . . . .

(Oh did I mention those fools in the UK even drive on the wrong side of the road? Luckily your right, the attentive drivers move over to the wrong side too, so it all works out . . . .((((-; )

As for those polite cops in general. I have seen one or two in my time, usually with a ticket behind that polite manor. Pissed off or cracking jokes at my expense more often than not didn't have the ticket attached to the attitude . .they just wanted to make a point! (-; I'll take a dressing down over a ticket every day. ((-; That is the jar head in me, I know the game . .so it isn't an issue. Yell all ya want, if it ends in a hand shake and no paper, I thank ya and gratefully go on my way.

Last . .what a great job . . fast bike, and your job is to run down the fastest riders. I might like to have that gig. Lol
