At Work, Wings of Gold event

I took these early before the crowds really rolled in, after that I was just to busy to take pic's. Cold as hell today, in the 30's this morning. According to the news we had snow flurries hear and there . .that would make the second time in my 49 years, the first time I saw it however.

Looks like a good crowd
Looks like a good crowd despite the weather. Sell any heated gear :)
Miami weather has even made it into the Seattle tourist board literature.
The weather the last two
The weather the last two weeks has sucked. (-; I can see if I go north in time I need to figure out two things . .how to keep my hands warm, and a cup of coffee on the ride to work!

Lots of leathers and a few nice, warm knit caps thrown in
At least most of those early birds have good cold weather gear. Probably not many opportunities to wear all of that down your way. Florida's been on the news around here, too, in regard to the citrus crop. We had a big Christmas eve blizzard and I still have a fair sized drift in our front yard. We've had 19 days of really cold weather so no riding for us at all. Looks like a large dealership. Hope you're hangin' in there at the new job and things are going well!

I am still on a child's
I am still on a child's salary. (-; Don't go commission for 90 days.
That said . .I have sold two bikes . . . almost enough to have paid ONE bike payment on the Wide Glide I own, much less rent. (-; I'll need 16 bikes a moth to make a somewhat adult paycheck . . No pressure. LoL Pressure aside, I LOVE working there. Some of the predictable petty ass cut thought salesman whining BS . . . but the customers are great, the environment is great . .its me to the core. If I don't get fired, I'll be there for a long time to come. This fits me well. (-; That fired thing . .still quite possible. Do or die environment. For now, I am just enjoying myself and trusting that sticking to the basics I know, and really just being myself and connecting with people will carry me along . .never smart to get desperate or hungry in sales. (-;

Like that...
...XR1200 in the first pic (if HD ever decides to offer a middleweight version close in displacement to their flattrack racer, I'm first in line...), and is that a yellow Blast I see? A Buell holdover, or one of the new just-plain-Blasts?
I have to be honest . . after
I have to be honest . . after riding all these bikes . .I am changing how I think about bikes in general. The "big" heavy weight touring bikes are the easiest to ride to be honest! I was shocked when I started riding them. Supper easy. (Got to know how to deliver power with a clutch for that to be true.)
That XR . .if you can handle a clutch, you'll be fine on that bike. Its a blast to ride. (-; Still a V Twin in the end . .strong as hell at about 90HP . .but predictable as always with a V Twin . . just a fun machine to ride. A "newer" rider will find abundant power to play with. In the right hands, that bike is a monster of power and handling.
The difference between the in line 4's and these V Twins . . the in lines will launch you, you have to kind of learn how to launch a V Twin . . . . That XR is a fine riding machine.
edit:
The Buell 1125R . . . OK, THAT is a fast bike! We have just one left now . . it is the only machine we have that scares me! (-; (Power bands) That front tire is not overly committed to being on the ground! It is a LOT faster than I had figured it would be. One guy bought 3 of the last 4 for the track . .he says people might out "ride" him, but never out "run" him on that bike.

I looked at some of the remainder Buells recently...
...available in my area, specifically an XB9 and XB12, but decided against them partially because I don't think my skills are good enough yet for that kind of bike...cruiser torque levels with sportbike weight isn't something for a guy with my meager experience.
I figure in a few years, Erik will be making road bikes again (probably to homologate for whatever series his team is in...hopefully something beyond AMA), and by then I'll be in the market for one of his machines.
But...
I've never been a HD guy, but I have to say the XR totally hits all the sweet spots for me: a performance-oriented bike for real-world situations, with a helluva dose of cool heritage thrown in. Every time I see one, I always think of Mert Lawwill drifting through those corners on his XR750, to tune of Bruce Brown's trippy '70s organ music.
We have two Blasts left, and
We have two Blasts left, and one 1125R . . giving the 1125 away at $7000. If I had the spare coin, I would buy it myself as a track bike and try to catch up with Mega. (-;

We test ride . .check your local dealer. That XR would be no problem for you at all, easy as pie. More predictable than your SV I bet. It'll get out of its own way if you get on it . .. but that wont be an issue for you at this point. I would not put a first time rider on one, but you would not have any issues with it at all. In the end, it is a beefed up sporty. Strong, solid and predictable. In say enterals or mega's hands . .probably down right fast.

I may do that...
...they are sweet bikes. I love it that the XR1200s were actually introduced in Europe before here in the states.
That looks like it was alot
That looks like it was alot of fun. I hope that you got some good leads through it too!
Nope, waste of time as a
Nope, waste of time as a sales event. (-; Well . .for now anyway. In time I will get in tighter with the MC's . . . they buy bikes. But it will be some "moment" that life presents that shows me as a "stand up guy", a ""friend"", that buys me some loyalty. The Marine in me knows what has to happen in that world . .and in time I figure opportunity will arise. (-; When I was young . .those "moments" came with ease . . . these days, I truly have to be standing behind a friend. (-; But in the right moment, I am as solid as ever. LoL
The day was good for the dealership . .never hurts to bring folks onto the property in general and to show support to MC's as a whole.
And for 'me". I just enjoyed the day . .lots of folks to meet . . one girl I wish like hell I had gotten a number from. (-; She let a "friend" chase her off I think . . . All in all a good day.
