2010 Gladius... not!

I'm not sure how to post the actual image? sorry

Anyways, everyone always compares the gladius to the ducati monster. The shamless cloning of the MV agusta brute is so bad that I now know what a black and red gladius would look like. And I finally know what those funny silver "ears" are for on the gladius' head light. They mimic the mounting brackets for this bikes headlight. Duh?! What a let down. I was forgiving them for their bad fashion campaign up until now, because supposedly they hired european designers for the bike. Apparently European design is "Lets steal MV agusta's design and stuff the guts of the sv650 into it!" I expect more from Europe. Suzuki could have copied it without their help...

Anyways, for those who don't like their colors of their gladius, I'm thinking those plastic panels are looking very removable and paintable right about now...

Wow! Talk about fast custmor responses!

Looks like Suzuki got the hint. Next year's gladius is a much better looking bike. The big question I have is:

1) Will the USA get all four color schemes?

2) Will the USA get ABS brakes?

Red, Red, Red, Red and a hint of ABS please!

I'm comfused,

Are you bashing the Gladius for its looks that resemble the MV Agusta Brutale?

How is the Gladius a "let down" in your opinion? have you ridden the Gladuis, Monster or Brutale for good amount of time for good comparison of the three motos or just judging from color and looks?

Consider the retail cost of Gladius at around $6500, the Monster 696 @ $8500 and Brutale @ nearly $15000, are the looks or colors of a Gladius that much of a "let down" or just decent value? especially for beginner motorcycle.

ABS is over rated for motorcycle application, hone your riding skill and you're more likely to avoid sudden need of grabbing a fist full of brakes.

I'm pretty sure, based on all his posts, that his current favorite bike and best prospect for future purchase is the Gladius. I think he was only commenting on the fact that it's a bit of a let down that Suzuki so blatantly copied the stylings of another bike.

I really like the gladius. Just amazed at the lack of orignality. No, its a great value. That's why I'm so interested in it.

Sometimes originality is an overrated commodity.

Truth is, when us working class folks shop, we are not buying the cutting edge R&D, thats the rich boys top dollar toys. Nothing wrong with a good affordable knock off that utilizes some of that R&D when they show up.

Apology to Gladius

Bob Harley's picture

When I first wrote this post I thought I had made this Eureka discovery and I overreacted to it as if it was scandalous. But as I contemplate it, it seems obvious they would mimic a popular and unattainable bike for most entry level riders. Imitation is more than just flattery, its a good way to market a successful product. For less than the price of one MV agusta, you could have two Gladius's (I'm thinking His and Her's) with the same great style (assuming you like this look). I failed to compare apples to apples.

As for ABS, I don't think it's mandatory, but I also don't believe that it prevents a rider from being able to hone their braking skill. For a dedicated racer or experienced rider, it's not really an issue and I can see why they want 100% control. I'm sure there is a whole thread dedicated to ABS vs. non abs that was recently posted on the sv650.

Whatever, the darn thing

Whatever, the darn thing don't look bad to me. (-; I would not turn one down if an opportunity came up to ride one away. ((-;
