My suggestion.... go with the Yamaha/Star VMAX... sport and cruiser in one for bigger people!! ;-)

VMAX is not a beginner bike.

VMAX is not a beginner bike.  NO WAY.  That thing is the 426 Hemi 'Cuda of motorcycles.

At your height and weight you should be perfectly fine on any of the tamer middleweights currently out there.  If you're into sportier bikes, the Suzuki Gladius/SV650, Kawasaki Ninja 650R&ER-6n, and Yamaha FZ6r will do you great.  If you want a more cruiser-oriented ride, look into any of the 500-750cc cruisers offered by Yamaha, Kawasaki, Honda, or Suzuki.

Then there's the "retarded but fun" bikes like the Suzuki DR-Z400SM. It sucks on the highway (due to lack of a 6th gear) but it is FUN FUN FUN FUN FUN FUN FUN!

any thoughts on how the new

any thoughts on how the new ninja 250r would suit me

Might be pushing it size

Might be pushing it size wise... you'd have to check a showroom and sit on one to be sure for anything.

If you are set on a sport and the 250 is too small, sit on the 650r or FZ6R as mentioned above. My FZ6R is quite nice so far.

cool..i will definitley check

cool..i will definitley check those out..looked up that gladius and look pretty cool..more of a streetfighter look

If you like the streetfighter

If you like the streetfighter look then the Gladius/SV650 and Kawasaki ER-6n are THE bikes for you.

The Ninja 250R will fit you fine

I'm 6'4", ~190 lbs and the Ninja 250R fit me fine. The only issue would be the length of your lower legs (balls of foot to top of knee). If your knees don't quite fit under the knee grooves in the tank you can grab the $150 adjustable footpegs that I used to solve the problem for myself.

Best of luck sorting things out!
