Dogs first ride

Well, so it was only in the yard. When I was backing off the porch and fired up the bike, she jumped out!
Yes, got the dog carrier at last. I'll have to take some pics later, but she sits in it with two leashes that attach to a full harness. When she jumped out she was dangling of the back looking pretty silly. (-; Got her back in and relaxed her a bit and just did some circles around the yard. She is still not street ready. (-; I might have to see about making those leashes a little shorter for the short term too, just to be extra sure no miss haps happen on the first few rides.
It was all I had time for tonight, thunder storm hit us like a sledge hammer so maybe tomorrow I'll work her some more. Hopefully a few weeks time and I'll be able to get her out and make her a famous biker babe. ((-;

Well, finally got her on the
Well, finally got her on the street. Se did pretty good. We went out three times and each time she was more excited to go again. A few weeks and I think she will be cozy.
Had to do some work on the camera mount, it tried to fall off. Went ahead and hard mounted this mount for now. Maybe in a few weeks she will be ready for a bike night. (-;

She is darling!
I'm so glad that you were able to get a carrier set up for her finally! This one looks like it would offer her some protection if you drop the bike too.
Congrats!
Yea, she is strapped in there
Yea, she is strapped in there pretty good. She would probably come out of most mishaps better than I will.
I think she enjoyed it, she was not happy when I went to work this morning without her. (-;

What a cutie!
What a cute video! Has she watched it yet? If so, any reactions to seeing herself?

She could care less about TV,
She could care less about TV, mirrors, any of that. I adopted her at 2 years of age. Don't know who had her before, but she cowers a LOT, NEVER barks in the house or in my presence at all, no playing, no chewing, no toys . . . very timid for a Jack Rustle. I don't think those first two years were good ones for her.
She is however as loving a dog as you'll ever see. She just wants to hang out with me, loves to just lay next to me and cuddle. (-; I don't think she will ever display the energy Jacks are known for, but she is a very good companion dog and I try to take her around with me whenever I can. She does love going out.

She reminds me of our dog.
No wonder she reminds me of our dog, especially in her facial expression in that one picture. Our dog is part Jack Russell. She runs all day chasing birds or cars, then she sleeps hard all night, and yes, she has her moments when she just wants to snuggle up with someone, usually me. She doesn't travel very well, though. I don't think she would like riding behind me.

She gets a bit excited, but she loves going. For now, I'll take her on short rides, each one a little longer than the last this week after work. By the weekend, I'll think about an easy ride out through the glades with a nice stop to play or two. That will hook her. (-; Mostly, I have to get her to learn, no jumping off. LoL After that everything is easy. (-; I started with her just sitting in the carrier for an hour at a time while we watched TV . .no getting out till I say so. All things slow and easy just to let her absorb and adjust to the new stuff. Kind of like when we learn to ride, let all that leaning around become natural and normal.

11 lbs when I got her. That was a good weight for her. Like me she is getting a wee bit plump now at about 14 lbs. (-;

That is one cute companion!
Every bit of footage you show of your pup makes me miss mine that much more. I really need to find myself a living situation that allows dogs...it's been too long.
I look forward to seeing how much fun she has when she gets totally comfortable. Living vicariously through a dog's unimpeded joy is one of the best things there is in life ;)
Darn camera just shut off
Darn camera just shut off after leaving, battery was not charged well I guess. Got about 20 miles in with her tonight. She seemed to have a lot of fun, and she was hot to go as soon as I got the carrier out. She will take to it nicely I think. She is still tangling herself in the leash inside the thing a little, got to get her more still in back with time.

I love how when you are still
I love how when you are still getting ready she has those worried puppy eyes, but as soon as you start up the motorcycle, her whole expression just brightens up, the doggie grin appears, and she is so thrilled to be going for a ride.
Better tonight
She had a good ride this time. I do believe she is going to enjoy this. (-;

Yea...she enjoyed it....ears
Yea...she enjoyed it....ears up the whole time. Good to see her not getting slung around in turns and such, looks like shes nice and snug....well except for the weaves, still wasn't to bad though. Glad you finally are able to get her to ride with you. Just make sure you take water with you, that wind and the constant panting will dehydrate her quick.

The weaves were for the camera. I cant see her back there, I just wanted to see how she is reacting to the motions . . she does seem to enjoy it.
I have to look into the water thing. Need to come up with a dogie cup for the saddle bag. Not sure if I need a bowl or a dog version of a hamster bottle? (Easier to let her have a sip in the carrier on a short stop.) When she gets less spastic in back she will need her doggles on for her eyes, and likely some kind of riding jacket when it gets cooler. One new thing for her to adapt to at a time . . (-;
There are two short leashes inside that thing, right now I have one in a back corner, and one in the opposite front corner, each attached to the harness in the center of her back. It keeps her in place pretty good.

Its nice watching your vids
Its nice watching your vids because I'm originally from Miami, though I haven't been back there since I was a teenager. I can catch glimpses of places I recognize.
This may be my favorite of the new Fall Shows!
Well, at least this show had excitement, good looks, and great scenery, and of course, a happy ending! What more could we possibly ask for? :) Looks like the bag will prove to be a nice way to take the pup out for rides!

I guess so, she is adopted.
I guess so, she is adopted. She was two years old when I found her at the pound, so I didn't try changing her name or anything. Otherwise I would have considered something original, like "hey dog". (-; What I know about training a dog I could write on the back of my fingernail. I just go with the flow with dogs, and always seem to get along with them. She was soooo timid for a Jack that she just got my attention. She does not bark in front of me, and barley even when outside. She does not play or chew. It took a year to get her to enjoy a chewy treat. What ever her first two years were like, I figured she deserved a better run this time around. She does not do tricks, but she is a good friend, she trusts me and that was what I think this poor dog needed most. I enjoy doing things with her.

I've said it before, but I'll say it again. She is darling.
It is incredible to me how poorly some people treat their animals (and that of course is putting it politely). When I got my cat (also from the pound), it was almost a year before she would allow someone to stand within two paces of her. I'm glad that you two found each other. It sounds like it has been a good match for both of you.

Did you ask for her history
Did you ask for her history when you picked her up? Usually they are happy to share whatever they know about the former situation. Granted "stray" or "left in night drop-off" doesn't tell you much...
