I don't even understand how

I don't even understand how the wreck in the second one happened. It's not like they were deep in a curve. Why couldn't he just countersteer to the right? Was it just target fixation? And the second guy was just blindly following? It's not like they weren't expecting curves at deal's gap.

The guy on the second video

The guy on the second video disappeared from view. Its almost like the wheels lost traction or something.

:44 "Dude, they're gonna beat our asses." I don't understand why.

Oh, and the first one is a Mordeth13 video. A motorcycle vloger.

That second video's the Harley version of a Yamaha R1 stand-up wheelie freeway crash. What tards.

No matter how many times I

Elwood1960's picture

No matter how many times I watch these, never can tell why they crashed. The first one I figure he went scared and came down on his rear brake . . all he had to do was look and lean . . he was no where near being to fast to make that corner. His friend was not exactly on a perfect line either.

Second one . .no clue what he was doing. I think that sums it up, he had no clue what he was doing. My guess, he looked at the hazard, and rode right where he looked. A great example of target fixation.

I chalk each up to riders that were a) on more bike than they should have been. B) On more road than they should have been. c) trying to ride a skilled road when they clearly had not developed any skill yet to use on that road . . . and trying to act like they could go fast when clearly they had not learned to go slow yet. Cant fake it on a bike.

On the second one . .the only ass wipe bigger than the rookie on the bike was the pussy's in the car. I have ZERO respect for someone who drives away like that. And to listen to them, I don't know if they had enough tampons on the mountain for them . . . what a fine example of a total lack of man hood or courage. What a fine example of people totally devoid of character.

While I wouldn't have even

While I wouldn't have even though about driving away, motorcycle riders (particularly cruisers, no offense) have cultivated a reputation for themselves in which they are not to be messed with. I also wouldn't put it past some bikers to blame the car for the wreck. And while I also have no respect for them, I think I understand why they didn't stop.

Edit: I was on the side of the road today, just taking some pictures of a pretty area, and every single person on a motorcycle who passed slowed down and made sure I was ok. Not one car even gave me a second glance. Maybe it just doesn't surprise me that the cage didn't stop, but all the bikes did.

Just go play the video again

Elwood1960's picture

Just go play the video again . . not one person who got off the bike's gave them even a sideways glance. I am sticking to my opinion and lack of respect for those folks. (-; They need to get out of the gated community a bit more . . . (-;

I would not kick there ass for the crash . . but for the video and they way they behaved . . if I ever sat with them over a beer I would feel compelled to push a few buttons . . sorry, lily white pansy's and cowards.

Trust me, had that been a sport bike, they would have acted exactly the same way . . they just were the sorry excuse for human beings they were.

Yeah, you're right. The

Yeah, you're right. The bikers don't care that they were there. Even if they couldn't have helped, they should have stopped to ask if he was okay.

I like to give people the benefit of the doubt though. It's possible that they made a mistake and regretted it later. For the sake of my faith in humanity, I'll acknowledge that possibility, as unlikely as it may be.

LoL . . if they were not on

Elwood1960's picture

LoL . . if they were not on tape crying . .run forest run, the big bad bikers might hurt us . . . LoL I am sorry . . can not relate to the kind of people in that car. Nor would I ever really want to.

I would NEVER have posted that WITH sound had I been them. THAT also tells me I have them pegged exactly for what they are. (-; They did not see a thing in the word wrong with the whole picture. Hey, no law says they needed to stop. To me it would have just been the right thing for a "grown man" to do.

I cant help it, I am old school. They were the only one there with a vehicle that could have been used to transport someone if needed. Or to anchor a rope so folks cold shimmy down to the bike, or help someone up . . . (Sadly, even this Miami boy always has at least 50ft of light rope in my trunk. Handy to have around.)

But then again, if I see a crash happen, I stop, period . . it would never cross my mind to drive away . . part of why I have seen the things I have seen I suppose. I cant for the life of me relate to the conversation on that video at all. Not even a little . .and seeing what they saw . . seeing the bikes and the people who got off . . I understand even less.

Hey . . just me. What can I say. ((-;

Doesn't matter- cars or

owlie's picture

Doesn't matter- cars or bikes, people don't stop. I put my car in a ditch last winter. I sat there for almost an hour waiting for the tow truck. During that time, only one person stopped. When the guy stopped, I had already been sitting there for forty five minutes.

As for the video, I have to agree with Elwood. The people driving the car didn't even think about stopping to help the cyclists. While there was plenty of help from other riders, I think think that it was a crass move on their part.

"A crass move." I think

"A crass move." I think that's a good way to describe it. I don't hate them for it, but it was crass.

Ironically

"Standard" recommendation is that you not stop to assist sidelined vehicles, but rather contact the proper authorities. Apparently there have been lots of criminal scams involving faked motor stops.

I can understand the logic behind not stopping, but man it messes with my instincts. The thought of "what if it were me?" usually has me doing the naive thing these days.

I've heard the same. A lot of

nok610's picture

I've heard the same. A lot of officers I've spoken with usually agree that you shouldn't stop but should contact the authorities.

There are a lot of scammers out there, but another reason not to stop is that it can cause another accident especially on a road like that where someone could be speeding around the corner and increase the chances of getting rear ended.

I have mixed emotions about this too, I've been stuck on the side of the road when my car broke down years ago and no one stopped. I was pissed at first but at the same time I didn't blame them. But it would've been nice if at the least, someone would've pulled up and asked if they contact the authorities for me and drive off. At least I would've felt assurance that someone that could help was on the way.

In this case, I seriously doubt it was a scam and the lack of concern from the people in the van is what bothers me the most. They didn't even attempt to get help...sad.

Hitchhikers and parked cars

Elwood1960's picture

Hitchhikers and parked cars are one thing. Most "scams" however do not start with a bike going over the side of a mountain. LoL Or a car flipping and the kids being ejected, or a bike high siding and the rider sliding down I 75 on his face . . . . in this case, context is important. (-;

The two road scams in Miami, well 3 . . . 1)rental car leaving airport gets rear ended . .they stop, man with gun takes money. 2) Flashing blue light, unmarked car . .you stop . .man with gun takes money. 3) Car slips in front of you, slams on brakes . . you hit them, they sue.

Parked cars and hitchhikers are . . . . . "unwise" in this town. If I see a woman alone, sometimes I will stop and ask if she is set . . . but they are usually very afraid of the folks stopping. LoL And it is not all that uncomon for there to me a guy waiting to ambush the hapless good samaritan.

But . . if I see a crash, mugging, whatever . . I get involved. That is a place you can make the difference between life and death. Not will make the difference, but could. I don't want to lay awake at night wondering if my stopping would have mattered till first responders arrived. That kind of thing would nag at me. Same with the muggings, or a woman being harassed, I have even stopped what I assume were pimps from beating up hookers when I worked down town . . I just cant turn my head . . . been a cop or two told me I was pushing the limits. (-; Sometimes being "smart" is the right thing to do, some times the right thing to do is not "smart".

But then again . .if the guy on the Harley had been smart, we would not have this topic to discuss in this case. LoL We all make our own choices.
