Oh . . Munch . .you steak out a Shark. And use a good knife . .that skin is a bitch. They do great on the grill.

oh yea ..been there, ate that, wish I could again. Actually it's one of the funniest times I had in my life. I was with my Uncle in Tampa and we were fishing at Redington Pier. I caught the shark, a lil 5 footer and we go it up. My uncle wanted me to try shark steak so he started cleaning it on the cutting board right there on the pier. Well one of the pelicans, a young one got curious and decided to swoop in. Next thing I know my uncle is in a full on sword fight with it, beak against the back side of a fillet knife. Next thing you know the commotion caught the attention of every pelican on the pier. I was using the water hose to hold them back in the air while my uncle would cut, fight, cut, sharpen, fight, cut rinse and repeat. I dunno if it was the 15 mins of effort that made it so good or that they are just that good but damn... all he did was put some lemon on it and we had nearly nothing left over. Everyone on the pier including ourselves were in tears from laughing so hard!

You talking about that pier by the skyway bridge? That looks like it would be a good fishing pier. I always wanted to try Tampa Bay out . .never got the chance. That was the problem with my old job, always looking as I was passing through.

Nurse shark is surprisingly good. Used to get little lemon sharks is some of the passes too. Never brought bigger sharks in my little ole boat however. (-; Down here I use MoHo . .its a Cuban BBQ sauce. Good stuff. (-;

My best shark story ever . . . . . my son was maybe 3 or 4 years old. We were in about 12 feet of water on a shallow reef maybe 3 miles off shore. At the time I had a little sears Game Fisher, 14 footer with a little 25 on the back. So I am off the front tossing a line and my son is asking if he can pet the shark. You know kids, talking non stop . .and i am saying sure, pet the shark.

I turn around and a Bull shark is just passing under my chum bag in the back . .his tail is not at the front of my 14 foot boat just yet! Huge sucker . .and my son being my son has reached down to pet it as it passed by! LoL

Son . . .dont pet the shark . .no, that was a bad idea. LoL

Yea its really close to there... I couldn't give directions but I could ride straight to it. The biggest thing I caught was a shark down there...never got to see just how big though but from 25 foot in the air ( pier to water surface) the head appeared to be about 2 1/2 3 feet wide.... so no telling what the water w3as hiding. Needless to say we couldn't gaff it up due to a young girl already vowing never to eat shrimp again after seeing a live one in the bait bucket. And yes it's a good place to fish, a veritable grab bag of what you pull up. Everything from snooks, sea cats, rays, jacks, lady fins, oyster toads... list goes on. Had more fun times there then any here would care to read about.
Ouch, yea I can imagine the "Oh Chit!" look on your face once you realized what was going on.
