My Scoot ridden hard on Ortega

Ok, so this isn't me but it's a nice video anyway. Shows you what a scooter can do in the right hands. Maybe one day....

I think the coolest thing

I think the coolest thing about that machine for me is how the inside wheel can stuff itself up and the outter one drops in deep turns. Too cool.

Cool

That is a cool scooter. I have never seen one like that on my country. I assume you don't counter-steer as it has two front wheels.

It counter steers like a

It counter steers like a regular 2 wheel bike. The steering is maybe a bit heavier than a regular bike so it needs a firm (counter) push when turning. At slow speeds (5mph) it is very easy to balance. So it is great for in town and as you can see, a lot of fun in the twisties. The guy in the video says he leaves his sport bike buddies for dead when it is wet. Having an extra wheel gives you 33% more grip so you can push harder in slippy conditions :)

that is pretty wild. Man he

that is pretty wild. Man he is practically scraping every turn! He seem to have very good control and understanding about the limits of that scoot. Come on eon, you gotta one-up that vid...go off some ramps! ;)

LOL...after watching that it

LOL...after watching that it got me wondering how far I lean over. It feels like I lean over that far but I never scrape the center stand (the first thing that hits the ground) so I know I am not going as far as I can. I have a horrible feeling I would look like a wuss next to that guy.

I'll have to scan the diagram for you. Set this up . . you are still going slow, but if you push the bike it takes you right to your turn limit. It was this one that got me somewhat cozy with dragging hard parts on the ground. Hard to find parking lots large enough, and empty enough to set it up, but it is my favorite "drill" in practice sessions. Once you get in the grove, you are leaning good. Bet a sport bike could begin to lean off on this one. (-; I am still TRYING to drag hard parts, normal on a standard / cruiser and I am trying to control that natural "surprise reaction" to want to straighten up. If I catch a peg on the street I still tend to over react ever so slightly . . just got to get used to the feeling and sound of it. I am hitting pegs, not folding them, so I am still not at the "limit". Thus, no reason to worry . . . my intellect knows it, but I have not trained my instincts how to react yet! LoL

lol...let me know how many

Munch's picture

lol...let me know how many times you had to do it when you get comfortable.. I have already shaved nearly an 1/16th off my floor boards from diving into turns. Still gives me that heart in the throat feeling. The last time I dove in a bit much and actually had to take my foot off the floor board, thank god them things flip up a little.

LoL . .when I am trying to

Elwood1960's picture

LoL . .when I am trying to do it with things like this weave it isnt so bad. It is when I am rushing a turn in traffic I get those oh shit moments! LoL I am afraid I will over react and blow a turn. (-; I don't want to get nuts and lever the wheels off the ground, nor to I want to bolt upright and hit a guard rail!! ((-;
