Impressive!!!!! Wayy more of

Munch's picture

Impressive!!!!! Wayy more of your derrier then I wanted to ever see however. I give you all kinds of respect for the way you are attacking the turns. I know I don't have the mentality to do track days however. It would kick in the dare devil inside of me I long have tried to keep buried.
How close you figure your arms and legs are getting to the track?

****Life's journey is not to arrive at the grave safely in a well preserved body, but, rather to skid in sideways, totally worn out, shouting "Holy Shit....What a ride!!!"****

Sorry missed this question.

Sorry missed this question. Not really worried about dragging elbow if that's what you're getting at. So no clue how close my arms are getting to the ground. Already dragging knee, but I'm not worried about that either.

It's actually odd, how going to the track has mellowed out my street riding. I don't nearly go as fast on the street like i used to. Might not be the same for you, but either way, trackdays are awesome. If you go to one, you'll get hooked. ;-)

Well . . not to shabby for a

Elwood1960's picture

Well . . not to shabby for a rookie. Lol First, what kind of camera? Quality is friggen good!

Second for the folks learning to do a figure 8 . .watch megasaz's head turns as he runs that track . . it is not a habit for passing BRC, it is how you ride. (-;

Dude, I think I saw one bike pass you real early on . .after that it looked like you were passing everyone and even lapped that one dude on the red bike, and it kind of looked like you lapped one whole little group. I am not sure what bike you are on . .but I was just trying to count shifts and listen to the revs on that back stretch . .you have to be in the 130's or 140's at least I am thinking.

Now, I know everything is relative, and it is clear you are taking the track days seriously and learning a lot, and as such setting high standards. You might not be at national completive levels yet . .but "slow" your not. (-; Great riding indeed. THAT is what those sport bike are meant to do!!

Oh . . one more question. How are your tires holding up? Seems like you are getting plenty fast to be heating them up good . . . you can tell when I am broke . .I was thinking that looks "expensive". (-;

That guy in the beginning

megaspaz's picture

That guy in the beginning passing everyone is Ken Hill, KFG (Known Fast Guy) and personal instructor for hire. He was working with a few of the keigwins instructors. If you look right when we head out the track, i turn my head. that's when i spotted him and let him on... I certainly wasn't gonna keep up with him. hahaha.

The cameras i'm using are just gopro wide. As far as shifting, I'm not really counting. I'm listening to the engine more than anything. Tires were getting kind of globby. It was a hot hot weekend. 108F in the shade and around 130-140F on the track, nonambient heat. Had to increase my tire pressure 2 psi front/rear to stave off melting my tires. As it is I have about 2-4 trackdays left on those, which is great since I've done 8 trackdays on those tires already before then.

And I still need to work on hitting those apexes. Plus, on some corners, I'm exiting very lazily. Need to work on WOT at the apex. The bike was the SV, so I'm sure I'm not doing 140 MPH or 130 MPH for that matter. The sv works too hard to get up to 130 MPH.

Yea, knew you had a few bikes

Elwood1960's picture

Yea, knew you had a few bikes . . . however my 45 hp twin is over 100 when I stretch the 5 th gear. lol Guessing with a quarter mile I could find the high 90's. Not sure my 883 would get past the 115 mark however in any distance . . you have an extra 12,000 or so rpms and a 6th gear over me . . . so lets say 120 and call it even. lOl Even on the SV . .you are a solid 3 digit run . . witch is a hell of a good skill to have, braking hard and under control as you flip back into that first turn off that back stretch that is. (-;

Your doing real well on that track to be sure. Clearly learning a great deal. I have not got the other vid to run yet . .I wold love to see that track unfolding under you . . . very cool stuff. I had another friend doing this. He went down at 120ish at the Homestead track . . plenty of run off and he walked away with mostly his pride bruised. His comment . ."so that's what it feels like". He never got back on the track. LoL Keep that rubber side down. (-; And keep it on the track! (-;

Oh, thanks for sharing . .get some more for us . .pretty cool seeing a member doing so well on the track! You get extra rep points for execution!

Wow, that's pretty awesome.

Wow, that's pretty awesome. I might do track days down the line sometime, but probably nothing serious. It would be cool to get my bike up to triple digits in a responsible manner, but I wouldn't want to release my inner dare-devil (although as long as I keep it to the tracks, that wouldn't be so bad).

What kind of bike are you on?

One thing that I notice that you're probably doing on purpose is that if you take a left hand curve and you lean off the bike for the curve, you stay off center to the left even when the track straightens out. Especially if you know you have another left hand curve coming up. Is that standard for track riding?

Yeah. Pretty much. Less

megaspaz's picture

Yeah. Pretty much. Less moving around and you're already 1/2 set up for the next turn if it's in the same direction as the previous turn.
