Sporty's getting new toys
Well . .part of how I get paid is "spiffs" . .kind of a commission that comes right from the manufacture. Two of those . .Whirlpool and Elctrolux put the money on debit cards, (Visa and a Master card.) I have been saving those now for a while. (And to be honest . . .I am going to short change the IRS by $300 and only send $1950 this quarter.)
Sooo . . tonight I went shopping.
The back half of my Mustang wide for two up opportunities, sissy bar, side mounts and pad, saddle bag supports, new saddel bags, (still from leather up, but far bigger.), a tool pouch for the front forks, and best of all . .now that the configuration will support it . . . this.

This dog is a great companion . .truly a loyal mut. Any woman swimming on the shallow end of the pool will quickly be thrown back for being short I am afraid. (-; And god help the woman who does not like dogs, or more importantly, this one.

LoL . .A few beers Saturday night. Lol I am losing my tolerance these days. (-; Guess the ability to read was suffering a wee bit. ((-; Hope I ordered all the right stuff! I think I am about to become one of those old timers that "used" to party. LoL Every year I enjoy my beer less, and as I drink less and less, it becomes less and less fun when I do. A six pack these days hits me almost as hard as it did in High school these days. Kind of becoming pointless to even bother. (-; I do however still enjoy listening to a little music over a beer . . . . old habits die hard.
My Jack Russel is a girl, and fixed. (-; She however is a very friendly "people person" however and would gladly run to say hi to EVERYONE who walked by. Anyone or any dog that will rub her belly becomes her best friend. LoL She belongs on the back of a Harley riding bitch, she's such a slut. LoL
In every dog carrier the system aside of the carrier itself is a body harness and a short leash that keep's them IN the cattier, not on it, in it. In a fall, her "leather" is really being held in place IN the carrier. Shell be fine, and will slow me down some too. She might not be as into wind blast at 80 plus as she will be at cruising speeds. I will however have to do PLP with her till she gets used to the world moving under her feet like that. I have known I would be riding with her from before i ever got the bike. Cant be leaving a dog home all the time. That's just wrong. LoL The best part of a dog is there genuine desire to hang out with you.
We can cruise A1A on the beach . . no down side to that. (-; As kind of hinted at in another thread . . most girls could care less about any machine in general. And the girls that do "truly" like a bike will be riding one of there own. LoL But a dog on a Harley . .that's an ice breaker. (-; If nothing else I bet it adds more socializing to my outings. If not, no matter, it will be enough just to make my dog a bit happier. (-; She always does a good job of putting a smile on my face when I get home from work . . least I can do is take her out to play some.

I agree on the drinking...have been very dry for near 6 years now....not been hammered since I was down near you end of the woods. Was in Tampa fishing when a tropical storm blew in... Uncle had a "brilliant" idea to hang out at the pub across the street. We started 7pm that night and ended some where near 9 am the next morning. Needless to say these days if it smells like alcohol, my bodies gag reflex instantly kicks in as to say "Oh hell naw... not this crap again!"
I actually saw a guy in the area with his dog riding with him. Similar to your set up, looks cozy actually. Don't worry about the 80 mph blasts... she won't feel most of it since you will be a wind break for her.

In my old job, if I was not turning in AT LEAST $500 to $1000 a month in bar receipts I got a ration of shit from the boss's. Entertaining was a part of the job. Some folks you took to a "gentleman's club" and dropped $2000 just because you then and forever had a little "leverage" in remembering that "crazy" night. Never would you "want to mention" that in a public setting, or god forbid around his wife. ((-; Kept displays on a few floors. I did that for almost ten years. Went from drinking a few beers, to being able to poor down Dewers, Johnny Walker or Jack neat all night long. It was just what we did. Just consider 160 nights a year in hotels, most of which involved a few hours at the end of the day "treating" a few sales people or owners to a good hangover. And you are the host . .had to always be the last man standing. I got a little to good at it for a while. That was my second run in my life with hard drinking, put down a lot of whiskey in the service too and had to real that in as well once.
When I came off the road in 07 it took a few weeks to notice I was still sucking back a LOT of scotch after work when I got home at night. (-; It's been a slow progression backwards from that point back to a six pack every other week or so. (-; Sometimes that stuff will sneak up and nip ya in the butt while you aint looking. I think I will never be the "host" again. The money in that work was good, but the "life" is far from meaningful. LoL Whatever I do for a living in the future, I want to be home after work 99% of the time. I dont mind a trade show or a training or two . .but I am over the "50%" plus travel description. It is about as empty a time in my life as I have had. I might be good at it, but it isn't good for me.
Heck . .the bike is GREAT for keeping the beers out of the frig. Gets in the way of riding. (-;

lol..yea one thing also though is the machining department has been busy with bike rallies to. So I imagine production has been cut a bit. They were just at the Angier bike fest last week end... imagine they are trying to catch up this week and then they have their very own bike fest coming soon. They are a small operation though their advertising and popularity contradicts it. The store space they take up is maybe 3 shop spaces in a strip mall set up. Half of that is machine shop, custom painting shop and inventory. Everything I have seen from them that is their own is quality though. I think it will be worth the wait.

Well, Got most of it done.
Well, Got most of it done. Modulator for brake light last week. Relocated my turn signals last night, and added the sissy bar and new saddle bags and supports . . haven't gotten the back half of the Mustang seat yet so I put the stock seat back on for a while. (YUK) I and forgotten how much better the Mustang is . .the single BEST upgrade to date!
Mostly easy . . the saddle bag support required me to remove the top bolt on each shock . .. that was the hardest part, putting the new bolt in. Frame dropped a little under the shock . .man . .that bitch is heavy when trying to lift it, align the shock, bolt, etc and get it started again . . . . (-;
So . .still have the rear seat coming someday . . .need to contact them. Seems not to have shipped yet, but they have not said anything about a back order yet either . . also have my tombstone fly screen coming, and the dogs seat is back order till august. )-;

Not really. You see a lot of GREAT work done to Sportys. It is such an amazingly versatile platform to play with if you have a little talent. They flat track them, cafe, chop them, make cruisers out of them, old school clean with those big apes or drag style . . . . she can be anything you want her to be. If money were no object, I would do a much nicer job on mine, but in the end "cool" is less important to me than practical. She is fairly quick, has enough personalty to be fun, yet makes a roomy and practical commuter. She would be a little hard on a cross country run, but it would only be hard on me, not her. (-; That Mustang seat helped a TON with the distance issue. I can spend hours at a time on her now with no problem.
I am still waiting for the luggage rack to come in, and that seat for my dog of coarse! I hope the new Air Cleaner will be in this week, probably not. Using a "Big Sucker" and have a custom skull cover on the way for it. Already have ideas with those 44 mag covers . . but that is for another time. (-;

I over spent on it a little, I had a few good sales deliver and rather than bank the money for the summer, what I SHOULD have done . . . I decided to get this basic project done with my stage one. Now I have a commission check that is almost a month late . . .hmmm. (-; Oh well, food is way over rated anyway. Yep, Surprised me and showed up today. And yes, I broke down and ordered a GoPro Wide . . .(-; Installed the new air intake, cover for it has not come in yet, so naked she goes. Seems to run a bit better with the pipes and it even seems to have a bit better sound with the AC in place. Never know if that is wishful thinking or real . .no dyno testing in my budget. (-;
Took a few with that reflective black tape . . it seems to show up pretty good.
And of coarse the test run with the camera. The mounting system kind of . .well it sucks, over complex and not to solid. At one point I hit a hard dip, and it moved the whole thing. (-; The sound is a hell of a lot better than the old one. Not "good", but much better.

The sound is a lot better. Muted as hell . .my pipes are really, really loud. But at least it is not so bad that EVERYTHING has to be dubbed over every time.
Got the camera working agin. It has something to do with the batteries. They had green lights in the charger, so they should be charged, and they are Nimh or whatever, they are on the approved list in the documentation. . . put a different set in when I came home. Works fine.
And yes, it is a far nicer camera I think. I want to take it down town one day . .bet it will make good shots in the tall buildings. The beach run too, this is wide enough to see the scenery to some degree.

Just a matter of time. I was going to make a risky jump a year ago . . expected the housing market to crash and some damage to the economy with it. Didnt see the banks coming. And Sure as hell didn't see a rush for a dozen high tax, high spending projects in the middle of this crap. I am not sure at this point what kind of work to look at. Depending on how much of this sticks . .we might me in for as hard a time as our lifetime has seen. Carter was bad . .but we seem to be in deep uncharted waters now . . .
As it is . .they are dicking around down hear . . looks possible our property tax's could double. Hopefully even these idiots know that will be it for there time in office . . . however it sure will hurt the working folks in Miami. This is a very poor city full of very rich people. Its getting hard for blue collar types to hold even paid off homes. My parents would have lost theres without my help already . .and it is getting ahead of me.
What ever . . like I said . .just a matter of time. I plan to put this place behind me sooner than later.

The new toys look very cool! We just ordered a Mustang solo seat for my hubby's Sporty, after reading many positive comments on how much better it is than the original seat. The new camera seems to work very well, too! I read somewhere that once you get into bikes, it sort of becomes an addiction...you have to (or choose to) keep buying new accessories to personalize it all the time! I've added a crash bar and saddle bags to mine, so hopefully I am covered for a little while.

You'll love the Mustang seat. In is supper cozy! The stock brick was good for less than a hour and my but was toast! With the mustang I have yet to out ride it. In spite of the work I am doing, I liked the look of it with the solo a lot better. Some time in august a little carrier is coming for my dog. That is what most of this project is about. needed the rear seat and sissy bar for a platform to attach to. Silly maybe . .but from day one, the plan was to take the bike out, loaded with camera and dog and no place special to go. (-;

New AC cover came in.
I also will have the basic chrome round cover that does cover the whole air filter . . . probably will use it in rainy weather and this in dry. I also changed my oil and filter, trying the Mobil 1 synthetic V Twin oil this time.

Well, had to cancel the order with scooter works for the dog carrier. Sounds like there supplier is just having issues. I will say this, they have been good about the back order, kept me posted and didn't make any excuses. Good folks to do business with seems to me.

I saw a pic of a guy in Deals Gap (aka: the dragon) that had his pup in front of him. His rig was simple, had a body harness on the pup with 2 short leashes from each side of the chest collar. Those leashes ran to his belt loops. meant to steal the pic and post it here but forgot about it.

I know exactly what you are talking about. But. I started looking at how to get the dog on board long before i bought the bike. Along with all that reading was way to many stories about the problems that can go with the effort.
On the tank, animal rights types like to call it in, and the wrong cops write a ton of tickets, some of them related to animal abuse laws. Miami is a crowed city, I'd find supporters, but no question I'll find that cop. (-; Thats why I want one made for the purpose, and on the pilion seat. No gray areas.
Anyone, found another one on ebay, we will see if they really had it or not today. (-;
