Cleaning a bike

Hello. Could someone recommend a good chrome polish and/or cleaning product for shining up a bike every once in a while?

I use Pedro's Bike Lust,

I use Pedro's Bike Lust, available at bicycle shops. It's a spray on silicon cleaner/polish that protects painted finishes.

Automotive "Nu Finish" and "ProtectAll"

I use "Nu Finish", the once-a-year non-wax (polymer) car (and motorcycle and boat) polish which comes in an orange colored bottle. You can buy it everywhere and it's cheap.

It beads water "forever" and makes tired-looking paint shine again. It's wonderful stuff but be aware that it'll white-stain rubber (foot pegs, grips, etc), vinyl (seats) and matt (flat) paint finishes, so keep it on the shiny painted areas and chrome. Once or twice a year (depending on the amount of rain it's exposed to) is enough to bead water and keep paint shiny all year long.

I've also been using ProtectAll "all surface care with carnauba wax" recently to spruce the bike up in between washes (and yearly "waxes").

The "ProtectAll" works fine, but then again, someone else recommended Mr. Sheen (furniture polish), and I've no reason to doubt that that works just as well as the expensive ProtectAll (for in-between times).

I Hope I don't sound like a salesman, but...

I picked up a tub of Turtle Wax "ice" polish a couple of weeks ago. It's a relatively new product that claims to work not only on painted surfaces but on any rubber bits as well. I have to say the stuff works amazingly. I use it on the paint, frame, engine, muffler, any plastic pieces, such as lights and fenders and even my seat. Application was much easier than any polishes I've used in the past and It oly takes me about 30min to do my whole bike. I don't have any chrome on my bike, but it really does do a very good job on all the other surfaces and best of all leaves no white marks.

I highly recomend this product to anyone who wants to keep a good looking bike with very little effort. And no, I don't work for Turtle wax, I just really think this is a great polish,

Turtle Wax "ICE" for me. This can help keep my bike squeaky clean. Ever think about working in Sales? LOL. j/k

When the novelty wears off...

Once the novelty of polishing your bike wears off (as it very soon will if you actually ride the bike as opposed to just looking at it like the Harley guys do), you might come to appreciate a once-a-year polish like Nu Finish ;-)
