New Horn

Well, it is raining and just not good riding weather today, so I installed a "Stebel Nautilus Air Horn". Took a while to figure out where to put it and get the relay and wiring all sorted out, but man is this thing better than that stock "beep beep" horn. This baby is an attention getter!

Forums:

well it looks good, how does it sound?

This is a serious horn. I am pretty sure it will get the attention of a cager. LoL

I bought it from Amazon in the end, got the chrome one. But the link above has a sample that can give you a general idea.

I play paintball, and one of the last events I managed to make it to had an airhorn powered off your HPA or CO2 tanks, with a little on off switch, that sucker was loud as hell. you could even get a 12gram quickchanger to use the 12gram co2 powerlets ($13ish per 25pack in the sports department at wallmart) thing with those though is they'd blow through the 12gram in about 3 seconds, so it'd be enough to let ANYONE around you know you're there, but you'd have to reload a new 12gram before you could use it.
I'd sorta planned on using one when I get my bike...I'll have to look yours up, tell us how it works out for ya

I first saw it written up on the Sportster forum, but it is all over on U tube and all kinds of biker forums once you look. Seems it this one and one other that looks almost just like it that are the two most common on bikes.

It draws 20 amps, so you have to use a relay for it our you will kill your stock horn switch. But that is the set up. I just tossed the relay in the mix, so my stock horn button controls it. Perfect. (-; I felt it was a good safety investment in this traffic. If I can alert someone taking my lane rather than doge them . . .(-; Cheep too, less than $60 with the relay and stuff I got to install it.

wow that is a huge difference

If that don't get the cagers attention, nothing will. LoL Around this place, there is sooooooooo much traffic. I could ride a 1000 miles easy and not think about falling down on country roads. I am in control, and I don't shred the streets. (-; Dodging all this traffic makes me far less cocky, you get cut off like every 30 seconds, no kidding. I don't know in that environment when the situation will exceed my current ability. Its a bit scary still. A horn is a simple logical effort. Why swerve when you can make a cagers ears bleed! LoL Seriously, if I can stop someone from taking my lane, that is better than figuring out how to escape the trap . . . that road runner beep beep horn was never going to be heard in a BMW with the stereo on . . .

haha just be careful that you dont scare them too much...they might freak out and lose control heh....plus, they might not take too kindly to someone interrupting them reading the newspaper, putting on their tie, and shaving their face while driving over 60mph...... :P

As long as you don't make them spill the coffee, they wont mind so much. (-: Now interrupting that phone call they had going on too might upset a few . . LoL

i find that taking their attention away from the phone conversation doesnt piss them off as bad as actually having to make them LOOK at the road instead of their new text messages
