Which helmet for bicycling?
I have a question for everyone.
Okay, so I was riding in the forest with a friend (mountain biking). He was in front of me, when his front wheel locked up and he flipped. I was in the process of going under a tree, when I looked up to see what happened to him but ended up hitting part of a tree branch myself.
I was going pretty fast, so that got me my 5th scar on my head... I was wearing a bicycling helmet too.
So I've decided to get a motorcycle helmet for just regular bicycling.
The question is: Should I get a full-face street helmet or a motocross-type helmet?
for street helmet, I've been looking at the HJC CL-15, and for motocross-type helmet, I've been looking at the HJC CL-X5N.
This might be overly cautious for just bike riding, but for me its warranted because of all the injuries I've sustained to my head...
The helmet will be used for any riding, on the street or mountain biking, so.

I would go motocross and wear googles. I don't think you would generate enough wind to keep the visor from fogging up on a full face hemet.

Do NOT get a DOT helmet!
Don't get a motorcycle or ATV helmet. It weighs A LOT, and is very hot (it is designed for ventilation at speeds you will not reach on your motorcycle).
I do a lot of mountain biking (all types, XC, Urban, Freeride, but mostly Downhill), trust me when I say you don't want a motorcycle helmet, not even a motocross one. And most certainly not a full faced.
If you are serious about your head protection, get a fiberglass, kevlar, or CF full faced mountain bike helmet. I personally wear a Mace Hammer ( http://www.macegear.com/ ). I wear it because it fits, is light, and I know it is strong (I am alive today because of one that now hangs in my office). SixSixOne, Bell, Giro, Troy Lee Designs. There are no shortage of good full faced bicycle helmets out there. Find the one that fits you best, and wear it.
Any good mountain bike shop will carry an assortment. Just watch out for ones that use standard bicycle crash foam and plastic liner. These are simply XC helmets (which are just restyled road helmets) with chin bars added and some protection added to the back of your head. The increase in protection they provide isn't nearly as good as a proper FR/DH full face, but they tend to cost as much.
If you don't want a a chin bar, look at a protec "skateboard style" helmet. These are becoming far more common on the roads and trails because they aren't as cumbersome as full faced, but provide excellent protection to the sides and rear of your head that a "normal" XC mountain bike helmet does not. In all honesty, unless you are pushing yourself hard enough that you fear smashing your face, this is probably the best helmet style to wear.
Trust me when I say, overly heavy poorly ventilated helmets can really suck the fun out of mountain biking.

What is your review of the Mace Hammer?
I'm in the 100-140 price range, and Mace Hammer 2.0 is right in the middle. It looks great, and if its comfortable in your opinion (what type of head do u have? is the helmet geared more towards an oval or round head?) and safe, then I'd say I might go for it.

I did look at the Gurka and the Hammer 2.0, but the former is DOT and latter isn't. But for biking, DOT isn't necessary?
The Hammer 2.0 is definitely a consideration then.
